TB treatment labels updated, three reported questions fixed

    ImprovedFixed
    • Improved
Communicable Diseases cram sheet now uses the current TB regimen labels. more ▾

The TB pages of the Communicable Diseases cram sheet now use the treatment labels of the DOH TB program manual: Regimen 1 for most drug-susceptible TB and Regimen 2 for TB of the brain, bones or joints. The older Category I and II names stay in brackets, because some reviewers still use them. Streptomycin is now marked as an old retreatment drug, drug-resistant TB now reads 6 to 20 months, and the TB-DOTS flowchart matches. Your marks on the sheet stay where you drew them.

    • Fixed
Three reported questions repaired: tetanus in pregnancy, screening, type 1 diabetes. more ▾

Three questions students reported were repaired. A question on protecting a newborn from tetanus had more than one defensible answer and now has one; its explanation also covers the Tdap vaccine in pregnancy. A mental health question now explains that screening is not diagnosing, and a diabetes question now explains why no family history points to type 1. The answers are unchanged.

The pen's Freehand ink keeps up with your pen

    Fixed
    • Fixed
Freehand ink now keeps up with your pen. more ▾

Writing with the pen's Freehand mode on a question now draws the ink the moment your pen or finger moves, right up to the tip, instead of a step behind it. Slow handwriting no longer trails, a line ends exactly where you lift, and on an answer choice a stylus starts inking after a shorter stroke.

Show or hide every explanation at once

    Improved
    • Improved
One tap to show or hide every explanation in a past set. more ▾

When you reopen a past practice set from History, every explanation is now open, the same as right after you finish. One "Hide all explanations" button folds them all, and your choice is remembered on that device. You can still fold or open any single one. A page you download for offline review now keeps every explanation, including folded ones. In a finished mock exam, "Open all situations" opens every section and situation in one tap.

Rewritten questions on the community health nursing process

    ImprovedFixed
    • Improved
Community health nursing process questions rewritten: shorter, harder choices. more ▾

All 54 one-answer questions on the Community Health Nursing Process were rewritten. Their explanations are about a quarter shorter, each 150 words or fewer, and still open with the answer, explain every option and define every term. Twelve questions that repeated others in the bank now test their own community ground, such as the spot map, the house-to-house survey, a community's readiness to act and working with sectors outside health. Wrong options were rebuilt so that each one is something a nurse could believe. Each question was checked by a reviewer. The answers are unchanged.

    • Fixed
Three second answers removed; devolution explanation corrected. more ▾

Three questions had a second defensible answer and now have one: the purpose of bag technique, which services count as population-based under the Universal Health Care Act, and which step of the process a nurse is in while charting the barangay's figures. An explanation that said barangay health stations were devolved to the barangay now says they went to the cities and municipalities.

    Electrolyte imbalances topic revised

    Improved
    • Improved
67 electrolyte imbalance questions rebuilt: shorter, harder choices, clearer explanations. more ▾

67 questions on sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium and phosphorus were rebuilt: the warning signs of each imbalance, what to do first, giving potassium and calcium safely through an IV, the ECG changes, the foods to teach, and how fast a low or high sodium may be corrected. The questions are much shorter, all four choices are closer, and every explanation is in plain words. One question now teaches the correct response when a client feels burning along the vein during an IV potassium infusion: stop the infusion and check the site.

Nursing law explanations in plain words

    ImprovedFixed
    • Improved
169 law and ethics questions now define every legal word and show how it applies on the ward. more ▾

169 questions on nursing law, ethics and professional adjustment now explain every legal word in plain words, from tort and liability to consent, the Latin doctrines and each law by its name. Every explanation also ends with a short "On the ward" line that shows what the rule looks like on duty. The 68 jurisprudence questions were rebuilt too: shorter questions, closer choices, and seven questions that had a second defensible answer now have one. Independent reviewers read every question, and the answer letters are unchanged.

    • Improved
Nurse Law cram sheet page 5 rewritten in plain words. more ▾

Page 5 of the Nurse Law & Patient Rights cram sheet now explains its legal terms in plain words, such as proximate cause, res ipsa loquitur and solidary liability. Your marks on the sheet stay where you drew them.

    • Fixed
PRC license question now says the ID card, not the registration, is renewed. more ▾

A question said a nurse's PRC registration lapses and is renewed. The certificate of registration does not expire; it is the PRC ID card that is renewed, and the explanation now says so.

Type right on your cram sheets

    NewImproved
    • New
Type words straight onto a cram-sheet page with the new Text tool. more ▾

A new Text tool (the T button, or the X key on a laptop) lets you type words that stay visible on a cram-sheet page, like a text box in a PDF. Tap where the words should go and type. Drag the box to move it, pull its edge to make it wider, and pick a colour and a size from its bar. It saves as you type, and Undo works. Your typed text also shows in My Notes and prints with your marks.

    • Improved
Sheet search also finds the words you typed and your sticky notes. more ▾

Search this sheet (the magnifying glass, or F) now finds your own words too: what you typed on the pages and what you wrote in sticky notes. They show first, marked "your notes".

Retinal detachment and macular degeneration topic revised

    Improved
    • Improved
32 retinal detachment and macular degeneration questions rebuilt: shorter, harder choices, clearer explanations. more ▾

32 questions on retinal detachment and macular degeneration were rebuilt: the warning signs and how fast to act, positioning before and after eye surgery, the gas bubble and the scleral buckle, the Amsler grid, the dry and wet forms, and staying safe at home with low vision. The questions are shorter, all four choices are closer, and every explanation is in plain words. One question now teaches the current rule for positioning a client before retinal surgery.

Rewritten questions on caring for families

    ImprovedFixed
    • Improved
Care of Families questions rewritten: shorter explanations, no second answers. more ▾

All 43 one-answer questions on Care of Families (Normal and At-Risk) were rewritten. Their explanations are about 40% shorter, each 150 words or fewer, and still open with the answer, explain every option and define every term. Thirteen questions that repeated others in the bank now test their own family-nursing ground, such as family roles, family types and Duvall's stages. Five questions that had a second defensible answer now have one. Each was checked by two reviewers. The answers are unchanged.

    • Fixed
Maternity leave extension notice corrected to 45 days. more ▾

A maternity leave question said the employer needs 30 days' notice before a mother adds the 30 unpaid days. The law asks for written notice at least 45 days before her leave ends, and the question now teaches that.

Shorter explanations on 295 more questions

    Improved
    • Improved
Explanations on 295 more questions shortened, every reason and definition kept. more ▾

The explanations on 295 more one-answer questions were shortened, nearly all to 150 words or fewer, down from about 210 words for a typical one. Each still opens with the answer, gives every reason the answer is right and every reason each other option is wrong, and keeps a plain definition of every term it relies on. Each was checked by two reviewers. The question itself was also shortened on 23 of them, without removing anything the answer needs. The answers are unchanged.

    Leaderboard podium photo fix

    Fixed
    • Fixed
The 1st-place photo sits evenly inside its gold ring. more ▾

On narrow phones, the 1st-place photo on the leaderboard now sits evenly inside its gold ring instead of sliding over the ring's right side.

Clear notice when checkout is down

    Improved
    • Improved
Checkout down? We tell you, and email you when it's back. more ▾

If checkout doesn't go through because PayMongo, our checkout partner, is down or under maintenance, the page now says so and that nothing was charged, and we email you. When checkout is working again, a second email lets you know so you can finish getting your plan.

Terms: pass guarantees and product terms

    Improved
    • Improved
A clearer Terms section on pass guarantees and product terms. more ▾

Terms: a clearer section on pass guarantees, and products may now have extra terms on their own pages.

Moving a two-day mock moves both days

    Fixed
    • Fixed
Move either day of a two-day mock and the other day follows. more ▾

On the Study Plan, moving Day 1 of a two-day mock to a date after its Day 2 used to be refused, and the mock went straight back to where it was. Now the other day moves with it and keeps the same gap, so Day 1 always comes first; the message after the move tells you where both days went, and Undo puts both back. If a change ever cannot be saved, the reason now shows at the bottom of the screen where you can see it. From a student who could not move a mock off a day with review classes.

See where you finished last week

    New
    • New
On Mondays, This Week shows the place you finished the week before. more ▾

On Mondays, the leaderboard's This Week tab now shows where you finished the week before, for example "Last week you finished #16 of 338". The weekly board resets at midnight between Sunday and Monday, so a set you finish late on Sunday still counts for that week; now you can see your final place even if the board had already reset when you looked. From a student who finished a high-scoring set just before midnight.

More sounds for the study timer

    New
    • New
Pick from seven timer sounds, set the volume, and let it ring for up to a minute. more ▾

The study timer has six new sounds for the end of a sprint or break, all real recordings: an alarm clock, a kitchen timer, a digital watch, a desk bell, a singing bowl and a clock chime, alongside the original soft tone. Open the Timer to pick one, tap play to hear it, set the volume, and choose whether it rings once, for 15 seconds or for a minute. While it rings, tap the Timer button to stop it. From a student who wanted a longer, louder alarm.

    One spelling for practice

    Improved
    • Improved
Buttons and lines now spell it "practice" everywhere. more ▾

BoardPal now spells it "practice" everywhere, for the noun and the verb. A few buttons and lines on Flashcards and the About page used the British "practise".

The PDF button fits on small phones

    Fixed
    • Fixed
The PDF button on cram sheets is no longer cut off on small phones. more ▾

On small phones, the PDF button at the top of a cram sheet could be cut off at the right edge when the sheet also showed the button for your earlier marks. The top bar now makes room, so every button fits.

Easier to find on cram sheets: Night reading and your quiz

    Improved
    • Improved
A moon button at the top turns Night reading off in one tap. more ▾

When Night reading is on, a moon button now shows at the top of the cram sheet. Tap it once to turn Night reading off. Before, the switch was only inside the drawing tools' More menu, so a page that looked darker and orange was hard to change back.

    • Improved
A Quiz button at the top stays in view while you draw. more ▾

When you open a cram sheet from your study plan and start drawing or highlighting, a gold Quiz button now shows at the top of the sheet. The quiz button at the bottom hides while a drawing tool is picked, so it never catches your strokes, and the top button keeps the way to your quiz in view.

Your score stays on screen after you submit

    Fixed
    • Fixed
Your score and answer review no longer disappear after you submit. more ▾

After you submitted a set, the page could reload on its own a moment later and show "No questions here yet" in place of your score and explanations. Your answers were always saved. Your score and the full answer review now stay on screen.

Your study plan counts a finished set right away

    Fixed
    • Fixed
Plan tasks tick off as soon as you answer the last question. more ▾

A practice set opened from your study plan now ticks off its plan task as soon as you answer the last question. Before, the tick waited for the summary screen after you tapped Finish, so leaving early, or a page that did not load, left the task showing as not done even though every answer was saved. A set you pick back up later from History also counts toward its plan task now.

Fixes from your reports, and flashcards that match their questions

    Fixed
    • Fixed
Four questions rechecked against the textbooks and corrected. more ▾

Three questions you reported, and one more found while we checked, were rechecked against the main nursing textbooks and review-centre materials and rewritten where the wording or a choice was off, including a pulmonary embolism question and a streptokinase question whose wording did not match what Saunders teaches. The answers are unchanged.

    • Fixed
Ready-made flashcards now match the question they are offered with. more ▾

When you make a flashcard from a question you answered, the ready-made card offered with it now matches that question. 383 ready-made cards had drifted away from questions that were rewritten earlier: 221 now sit with the question they teach, and 162 that fit no question were taken off. The 326 questions this left without a ready-made card now each offer a new one written for that question and checked by a second reviewer.

Real pictures of the app on our public pages

    Improved
    • Improved
Up-to-date pictures of the app's screens on our public pages. more ▾

Our public pages now carry up-to-date pictures of the app's own screens, from a practice question and its explanation to the study plan and your readiness numbers, so anyone looking up BoardPal can see what it looks like before signing up. The PNLE review apps guide shows four of them.

    Fixed
    • Fixed
Clearer messages when an answer fails to save or an email isn't confirmed. more ▾

If an answer cannot save because your internet dropped, Practice now says so, keeps your choice, and asks you to check your signal or Wi-Fi before tapping Try again. On the log-in page, an email that was never confirmed is now named on screen, with a reminder to use the email you signed up or paid with.

    • Fixed

A guide to PNLE review apps

    NewFixed
    • New
A guide to nine PNLE review apps and who each one suits. more ▾

A free page that lists nine online PNLE review apps, BoardPal included: where each one runs, what it lists, its price and who it suits, each taken from that app's own website or store listing with the date it was checked. A short table at the top matches what you need to the apps that offer it.

    • Fixed
The review-app pages now match each app's own site as of today. more ▾

Re-checked every other app's details on both review-app pages against their own websites and store listings: NLE.ph's question count, Tangerine Prep's mock boards, plans and Android app, and a few lines for BrainEd, NursePass and Pasado now match what those sites say today.

See how many questions you answer each day

    New
    • New
Home now shows how many questions you have answered today. more ▾

The streak box on Home now keeps counting after your streak is safe for the day: it shows how many questions you have answered today and, with a study plan, how many your plan has for today.

    • New
See your questions per day for the last 14 days on Performance. more ▾

Performance now shows a bar for each of your last 14 days with the number of questions you answered that day, your plan's number for the day, and your best day in gold. Study habits now sits near the top of the page.

Add your own pages to a cram sheet

    New
    • New
Add your own blank pages to a cram sheet for drawing and pictures. more ▾

Need more room than the margins give you? In a cram sheet, open the tools, tap More, then Add a page after this one. A blank page appears right after the page you're reading, and you can draw, highlight, add sticky notes and add pictures on it. You can add up to 2 pages after any page and 20 per sheet. Your added pages are saved to your account, show up in My Notes, and are printed in place when you download a PDF with your marks.

Readable sticky notes in Dark mode, and PDFs with your marks

    FixedNew
    • Fixed
Sticky notes are readable again in Dark mode. more ▾

In Dark mode, the writing box inside a sticky note stayed light grey while your text turned light, so notes were very hard to read. The box now turns dark with the rest of the app. The same fix reached the note that shows our replies when you sign in, which had the same problem.

    • New
Download a cram sheet PDF with your own marks on it. more ▾

When a cram sheet has your pen marks, highlights, pictures or sticky notes, the PDF button now asks which copy you want: a clean copy, or one with your marks. The copy with your marks numbers each sticky note on its page and lists what you wrote at the end.
