Faster servers after tonight's slowdown
Fixed- Fixed
Tonight's slowdown, fixed; a stuck page now offers Try again. more ▾less ▴
From about 8:50 pm tonight BoardPal was very slow or stuck on the loading screen for many students. Answers you submitted before it stalled are saved. If a page ever takes too long to load again, it now shows a Try again button instead of waiting forever.
Clearer hearing-loss tips in the Eye and Ear sheet
Fixed- Fixed
Whisper test and hearing-loss talking tips on the Eye and Ear sheet, corrected. more ▾less ▴
On pages 11 and 12 of the Sensory: Eye and Ear Disorders sheet, the whisper test is now done from arm's length behind the client, and the tip for talking with an older adult who has hearing loss now says to speak a little louder and never shout, instead of lowering your pitch. Only those lines changed, so your highlights and notes stay where you left them.
Bone lab results corrected in the Musculoskeletal sheet
Fixed- Fixed
Osteomalacia and Paget disease lines on the Musculoskeletal sheet, corrected. more ▾less ▴
On pages 20 and 21 of the Musculoskeletal sheet (Fractures, Casts, Traction & Joints), osteomalacia no longer reads as always having a low calcium. The calcium can still be normal, so a normal result does not rule it out; the low phosphate is the clue. The Paget disease treatment line now puts a bisphosphonate first, with calcitonin only when one cannot be used. Only those lines changed, so your highlights and notes stay where you left them.
- Fixed
Paget disease labs and the calcitonin allergy line on the Musculoskeletal sheet, corrected. more ▾less ▴
On the same pages, the Paget disease labs now read a very high alkaline phosphatase with a normal calcium and a normal phosphate, which is what sets Paget disease apart from osteomalacia. The calcitonin row no longer warns about seafood or fish allergy; the drug label warns only about an allergy to calcitonin itself, so the line now says to skip it in that case and to skin-test if unsure. Your highlights and notes stay where you left them.
A chemical eye splash question corrected
Fixed- Fixed
Chemical splash question: a numbing drop is no longer marked wrong. more ▾less ▴
A chemical splash question no longer marks a numbing eye drop as wrong. It may be given for comfort, but rinsing the eye never waits for it to start working.
Eye injuries, pink eye and eye surgery topic revised
Fixed- Fixed
Pink eye questions no longer disagree about staying home from school. more ▾less ▴
The pink eye questions no longer disagree about keeping a child home from school.
Ear and hearing loss topic revised
Fixed- Fixed
A few ear and hearing questions no longer teach unsupported claims. more ▾less ▴
A few claims that no current source supports were removed, such as lowering the pitch of your voice for a client with hearing loss and a PhilHealth coverage claim for hearing tests.
Metabolic bone disorders topic revised
Fixed- Fixed
A few bone disorder questions now match current guidance. more ▾less ▴
A few questions were brought up to current guidance, such as which Paget disease complication is common and when calcitonin is used, and a rickets question no longer has more than one right answer.
A clearer line on vaccine types in the Immunization sheet
Fixed- Fixed
One vaccine-type line on the Immunization sheet, corrected. more ▾less ▴
On page 2 of the Immunization, Maternal & Child Health & Nutrition sheet, the vaccine-type table no longer suggests that every subunit vaccine fails in babies. It now says what is true: a bare sugar coat works poorly before age 2, which is why the Hib and pneumococcal vaccines are joined to a protein. The hepatitis B vaccine on the same row works from birth, as the birth dose on that page shows. Only that line changed, so your highlights and notes stay where you left them.
Clearer picture and icon credits on every cram sheet
Fixed- Fixed
Fuller icon and picture credits on all cram sheets. more ▾less ▴
Every cram sheet now credits its heading icons in full: where they come from, that we recolored them, and the license they are shared under. The gallbladder picture on the Nutrition & Gastrointestinal sheet now credits the textbook edition it really comes from. Only the small print changed, so every page, highlight and note stays where you left it.

One popup at a time on a new Study Plan
Fixed- Fixed
A new plan's ready card no longer opens on top of the tour. more ▾less ▴
Right after your Study Plan is built or rebuilt, the "Your plan is ready" card no longer opens on top of the Study Plan tour. The tour now waits for your next visit.
Cram sheets now point to sheets by their real names
Fixed- Fixed
Old sheet names on six cram sheets now match the shelf. more ▾less ▴
Six cram sheets sent you to "DOH Programs A" or "DOH Programs B", names no sheet on the shelf carries. They now say Immunization, for the Immunization, Maternal & Child Health & Nutrition sheet, and Environmental Health, for the Environmental Health, Disaster & Records sheet. The sheets are Epidemiology, Fundamentals, Philippine Health Laws, Infectious & Immunologic, Psychopathology A, and Therapeutic Communication. Every page kept its layout, so your highlights and notes stay where you left them.
- Fixed
Cardiovascular now points to Labs, Fluids & Electrolytes. more ▾less ▴
The Cardiovascular sheet sent you to a "Lab Values" sheet for hyperkalemia. It now names the Labs, Fluids & Electrolytes sheet, the one on the shelf. Your marks on that page stay where they were.
Getting into your new account is easier
Fixed- Fixed
The log-in page now tells you your email is confirmed. more ▾less ▴
If you tapped the confirmation link in your email app and landed on the log-in page, your email is confirmed. The page now says so and tells you to log in with the email and password you signed up with.
A calmer first sign-in
Fixed- Fixed
Your first sign-in shows only the welcome card. more ▾less ▴
On your very first sign-in, the welcome card now has the screen to itself. The What's New announcement, the study reminder card and other notes no longer pop up on top of it, even on a phone someone else has used BoardPal on.
Study Plan setup: long plans and a sample week on Home
Fixed- Fixed
Plans over 400 days now show their question count. more ▾less ▴
Setting up a plan more than 400 days before your exam now shows how many questions it holds, instead of an empty box. Plans can run up to two years, and you can now move your exam date that far from the Study Plan too.
A cram sheet link that opened the wrong sheet
Fixed- Fixed
Altered elimination no longer links to the Critical Care cram sheet. more ▾less ▴
Altered elimination questions and flashcards no longer send you to the Critical Care cram sheet, which covers only one small part of that topic. Its lessons are spread across the Nutrition & GI, Renal & Urinary and Diabetes sheets, so for now the link reads coming soon instead.

Endocrine flashcards and cram sheets updated
Fixed- Fixed
Three DKA flashcards now judge recovery by blood ketones. more ▾less ▴
Three diabetic ketoacidosis flashcards now say recovery is judged by falling blood ketones, with the anion gap used only where ketones cannot be measured, as current guidance advises.
- Fixed
Two endocrine cram sheets clarify Addison disease vs stopping steroids. more ▾less ▴
Two endocrine cram sheets no longer suggest that stopping steroids causes the darkened skin and high potassium of Addison disease. Your notes and highlights on both sheets stay where you left them.
Autonomic dysreflexia pulse corrected
Fixed- Fixed
The pulse in autonomic dysreflexia often slows but can rise; three study materials now say so. more ▾less ▴
In autonomic dysreflexia the pulse often slows, but in about 4 of every 10 episodes it rises instead. One question explanation, one flashcard and the Neuro C cram sheet used to teach a slow pulse as the rule; they now say a fast pulse does not rule it out. Your notes on the cram sheet stay where you left them.
Endocrine emergencies topic revised
Fixed- Fixed
A few endocrine emergency questions now match current guidance. more ▾less ▴
A few questions were brought up to current guidance, such as how to tell when diabetic ketoacidosis has cleared, and two adrenal crisis cases no longer show signs that belong only to Addison disease.
Pediatric legal principles and teamwork topic revised
Fixed- Fixed
A few pediatric legal explanations now match Philippine law more closely. more ▾less ▴
A few explanations now match Philippine law more closely, such as which law makes a nurse report child abuse and when a minor can be treated in an emergency, and a few choices that were also correct were replaced so each question has one best answer.
- Fixed
Mental Health Concepts cram sheet: mandatory reporting now matches the law. more ▾less ▴
The Mental Health Concepts cram sheet no longer lists abuse of an adult woman as something a nurse must report. Child abuse is the report the law requires; for an adult, the nurse records her injuries and tells her the help open to her.
Autonomic dysreflexia topic revised
Fixed- Fixed
Autonomic dysreflexia questions now agree on one emergency order. more ▾less ▴
All 31 questions now follow the same emergency order, so two questions no longer give opposite answers for the same situation. A few choices that were also correct were replaced so each question has one best answer.
Clearer password rules when you sign up
Fixed- Fixed
Sign-up now shows the real password length (10 characters). more ▾less ▴
The sign-up page now asks for at least 10 characters, which is what the account system actually needs. Before, it said 8, so some passwords that looked fine were refused with no clear reason.
Cram sheet pictures now name their parts
Fixed- Fixed
Step lists beside pictures now use bullets, not numbers. more ▾less ▴
Lists that are steps rather than parts of a picture, such as giving eye drops, now use bullets instead of numbers, so no number sends you looking for something that isn't drawn.

Smoother mock exams and faster flashcards
Fixed- Fixed
Mock exams now tell you when you are offline and keep your answers safe. more ▾less ▴
If your connection drops during a mock exam, a note now says your answers are safe on this device, and they sync when you reconnect. Submitting while offline waits and goes through once you are back online, instead of opening a no-internet page. Resume also responds within a few seconds on a weak signal.
- Fixed
A stylus dot no longer erases the pen mark under it. more ▾less ▴
A dot drawn with a stylus, such as the dot on an i, now stays on the page instead of erasing the pen mark under it.
Family planning and breastfeeding law corrected
Fixed- Fixed
Two flashcards and two cram sheets now match the family planning and breastfeeding laws. more ▾less ▴
Two flashcards and two cram sheets now match the law. Under the 2014 Supreme Court ruling on the Reproductive Health Law, a husband cannot stop his wife from getting family planning information, but an elective procedure such as a tubal ligation needs her husband's consent too, except in an emergency. The Reproductive Health cram sheet and its consent chart now say exactly that. The Immunization, Maternal and Child Health cram sheet now says formula is given only after the mother is counseled and chooses it in writing, as the Rooming-In and Breastfeeding Act requires. Your notes on both sheets stay where you left them.
Nose and throat questions revised
Fixed- Fixed
A few nose and throat choices now match current guidance. more ▾less ▴
A few choices that current guidance also supports, such as allergy-proof mattress covers for a cat allergy, were replaced so each question has one best answer, and the strep throat question now follows a child, since rheumatic fever after strep is rare in adults.
Ethics and law in maternal care revised
Fixed- Fixed
A family planning answer now follows the 2014 Supreme Court ruling. more ▾less ▴
A family planning question now follows the 2014 Supreme Court ruling on the Reproductive Health Law, and a question about an abused teenager no longer has two right answers.
Infectious diseases topic revised
Fixed- Fixed
A few infectious disease answers now match current guidance. more ▾less ▴
A few answers that older textbooks still teach were brought up to current guidance, such as needlestick first aid and when chlamydia is treated alongside gonorrhea, and a few choices that were also correct were replaced so each question has one best answer.

Acid-base and ABG questions revised
Fixed- Fixed
A few acid-base answers corrected. more ▾less ▴
A few answers were corrected. For example, a blood gas with a pH just below normal is no longer called fully compensated, and bicarbonate is no longer taught as routine for every overdose with acid in the blood.
Childhood brain and nerve topic revised
Fixed- Fixed
A shunt question's posture sign corrected. more ▾less ▴
One shunt question had the posture backwards. When a shunt drains fluid too fast, the baby is more irritable sitting up and settles lying flat, not the other way around. A few other explanations were tightened to match current sources.
Emergency care topic revised
Fixed- Fixed
A burn fluid answer and a few emergency choices now match current guidance. more ▾less ▴
A burn fluid calculation now shows the right amount for the first 8 hours, and a few choices that current guidance also supports, such as a pressure bandage for some snakebites, were replaced so each question has one best answer.
Smoother Pencil writing and clearer calendar steps
Fixed- Fixed
Cleaner Apple Pencil writing on question screens. more ▾less ▴
On iPad, writing with an Apple Pencil on the Scratch pad and with the question Pen could come out broken, with tiny hooks along each line, so letters needed pressing hard or rewriting. The Scratch pad and the question Pen now ignore the stray old touch points the iPad sometimes resends in the middle of a stroke, which were drawing those hooks.

Today's free questions stay the same when you reload
Fixed- Fixed
Reloading a free practice set brings back the same questions. more ▾less ▴
On the free plan, reloading a practice set or switching topics before answering now brings back the questions you already opened today, instead of a new set. Retrying your misses and practicing bookmarks still work as before.
Cram sheets: the pen stays within reach
Fixed- Fixed
Once you use the pen tools, the top bar on a cram sheet stays in place. more ▾less ▴
On phones and tablets, the bar at the top of a cram sheet used to slide away whenever you scrolled down, even if you had just been writing, which could leave no pen on screen. Once you open the pen tools, the bar now stays in place until you leave the sheet. If you only read, it still slides away for more room.

Topnotcher photos keep scrolling when tapped
Fixed- Fixed
The topnotcher photos on the home page no longer stop when tapped. more ▾less ▴
On the home page, tapping a topnotcher's photo or name on a phone no longer stops the moving row of photos. It keeps scrolling smoothly.
Stroke topic revised
Fixed- Fixed
A few stroke answers now match current guidance. more ▾less ▴
A few answers were updated to match current guidance. For example, an ordered clot-dissolving drug is not held back while routine clotting results are pending, unless a bleeding problem is suspected, and fluids are no longer restricted for a low sodium after a bleed around the brain, because a drop in fluid volume raises the risk of the brain's arteries narrowing.
Pharmacology core principles topic revised
Fixed- Fixed
A few answers now match current drug labels. more ▾less ▴
A few answers were updated to match current drug labels and reviews. For example, after a severe amoxicillin allergy the antibiotic most likely to cause a cross-reaction is cephalexin, not cefazolin.
PALMER and ALS questions now link to their cram sheets
Fixed- Fixed
PALMER and ALS questions now open their cram sheet. more ▾less ▴
Questions on Professional Adjustment and Nursing Jurisprudence said "Cram sheet coming soon" even though the Nurse Law and Patient Rights sheet already teaches negligence, torts, consent, confidentiality, the patient's rights and bioethics. They now open that sheet. Questions on ALS now open Neuro B, which has a section on it.
Sign-up spots an account you already have
Fixed- Fixed
Signing up twice now sends you to Log in. more ▾less ▴
If you sign up with an email that already has a BoardPal account, the sign-up page now tells you right away and points you to Log in or Reset password, instead of asking you to wait for a confirmation email that was never going to come.
